Laramara (Brazilian Association for Assistance of the Visually Impaired) is showcasing at its booth, during the 17th edition of Reatech, some assistive technology products sold by Laratec (Assistive Technology Center for Visually Impaired People). Among the products, the highlight is the EVO E10 e-book reader, touted as the most modern and practical on the market, featuring voice-guided navigation in all system operation menus, reader buttons with high-relief tactile markings, as well as different shapes and colors.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur reader is developed for visually impaired people or the elderly who cannot adapt to modern touchscreens, but want to continue with good and pleasurable reading, explains Robert Mortimer, Laratec's assistive technology coordinator.<\/p>\n

A very interesting point is that the device has broad support for epub, pdf, docx, txt, daisy, and html, but it also includes other functions, such as a calculator, internet radio, and podcast management.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur entire team aims to identify the newest and most accessible assistive technologies that help children, youth, and adults with visual impairments and other associated disabilities build their autonomy at all stages of life and feel included in society,\u201d Mortimer states.<\/p>\n

Laramara also provides at its booth enlarged keyboards, video magnifiers, braille machines, signature guides, sorobans, talking watches, folding canes, arm blood pressure monitors, body thermometers, adapted games, among other items so that the public can get to know and test them.<\/p>\n

To conclude, Mortimer spoke about the importance of Reatech. \u201cWe missed the event in recent years because of the pandemic. We believe the fair is essential for the sector and for all visitors. Therefore, we are fully aware of the importance of our participation.\u201d.<\/p>\n
