International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility, the main event of its kind in Latin America, takes place in early September, in S\u00e3o Paulo\u00a0<\/i><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/u><\/u>Between September 1st and 4th, the S\u00e3o Paulo Expo in S\u00e3o Paulo will host Reatech \u2013 International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility 2022. In its 17th edition, the event, which is the leading sector event in Latin America, will feature the participation of experts from the Instituto J\u00f4 Clemente (IJC), a national reference in the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities and\/or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>The opening of the event, on September 1st, at 9 AM, will feature the panel The Role of Organizations and Society in Breaking Paradigms Related to the Inclusion of People with Disabilities<\/b>, which will feature the participation of Fl\u00e1vio Gonzalez, Social Business executive at IJC.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>\u201cInstitutions like ours and partner companies play a very important role in the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in society, because the right to work is fundamental for them to achieve autonomy. Unfortunately, we still live in an ableist country, where there is a mistaken idea that people with disabilities are not capable of working. By offering the necessary support, which often only requires adjustments to workflows, routines, or physical structure, many people with intellectual disabilities can perform a productive activity and be truly included in the job market, explains Fl\u00e1vio Gonzalez.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>Still on the subject of professional inclusion, Reatech 2022 will also feature the lecture Supported Employment as a Tool for Building a Life Project for People with Disabilities<\/b> on September 4th, at 11 am, with the participation of V\u00edctor Martinez, supervisor of the Professional Inclusion and Longevity Service at the J\u00f4 Clemente Institute (IJC).<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>\u201cThe Supported Employment methodology, which originated in the United States in the 1970s and was adopted by European countries in the following decade, is based on four main characteristics: a) placement in the competitive job market in inclusive environments; b) priority service for individuals with more significant disabilities; c) provision of ongoing support to ensure access, retention, and development at work; and d) individualized service, respecting choices and promoting participation. Since 2013, when we implemented this methodology, we have already made over 3,500 inclusions,\u201d reports V\u00edctor Martinez.<\/p>\n
<\/u><\/u>Another lecture with the participation of specialists from the J\u00f4 Clemente Institute will address the topic The Importance of Accessibility in Guaranteeing Rights<\/b> on September 2nd, at 3 p.m., featuring Ronie Novais, Advocacy assistant at the J\u00f4 Clemente Institute, and Fernando Lino, Libras interpreter at the Technical Support Center of the 1st Police Precinct for Persons with Disabilities in S\u00e3o Paulo, which is managed by the IJC. Through the Social Legal Service, the IJC offers legal and psychosocial support to persons with disabilities, family members, and caregivers.<\/p>\n
