The first accessibility pilgrimage gathered a crowd of devotees in the streets of\u00a0Bel\u00e9m<\/a>\u00a0for inclusion and faith in Our Lady of Nazareth, this Saturday (21).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

This was the 14th procession of the C\u00edrio de Nazar\u00e9. It departed from the Sanctuary Square, right after the arrival of the Runners' Pilgrimage, which also took place this Saturday (21). The chosen route prioritized tree-lined streets in downtown Bel\u00e9m.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The pilgrimage broadcast for people with visual impairments was led by Naldo Barros, who is also visually impaired. The musical performance was voiced by two autistic youths, Alan Cau\u00ea Oliveira and Ana Carolina Reis.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Straight from the United States, mother Andreza brought her 22-year-old son Alexandre, who is visually impaired and has severe autism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is a very special moment for me, my family, and Alex. It had been eight years since he last came to Bel\u00e9m, and returning at such a special time, for our \u2018Paraense Christmas,\u2019 having Alex here, and seeing this accessibility project is something that brings me joy and tremendous pride,\u201d Andreza shared via the pilgrimage's official social media channels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

According to the organization, about 200 volunteers and nine entities representing this audience, including professionals from various health fields, sign language interpreters, and audio describers, provided support to the participants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Noise-canceling headphones were also made available for those with auditory sensitivity, such as autistic individuals; service points; water distribution; restrooms; a welcoming space; a rest area; ID bracelets for children; among other necessary supports.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
