The survey had the participation of 245 visitors who attended the 19th Reatech \u2013 International Fair for Inclusion, Accessibility, and Rehabilitation<\/em><\/p>\n

Progress and challenges go hand in hand when the topic is the inclusion of\u00a0people with disabilities\u00a0<\/strong>No\u00a0labor market<\/strong>. At least that was the conclusion of the survey by Coexistir, a consultancy specializing in diversity and inclusion.<\/p>\n

Released exclusively to\u00a0InfoMoney<\/strong>, the research counted on the participation of 245 visitors who were at\u00a019th Reatech<\/strong>\u00a0- International Fair for Inclusion, Accessibility and Rehabilitation, and sought to evaluate the difficulties, opportunities, and perspectives of inclusion in the corporate environment.<\/p>\n

Among the respondents, more than half (55%) are women. As for the\u00a0types of disability<\/strong>, physical impairment is the most common (93% people with mobility impairments), followed by hearing impairment (27%), intellectual disability (24%), visual impairment (11%), and\u00a0Autism Spectrum Disorder<\/a> (2%). The predominant age group is 30 to 40 years old (30%), and 28% are over 50 years old. In terms of education, 61% have completed high school, while 22% have a college degree.<\/p>\n

Looking at these individuals\u2019 employment situation, 52% of the respondents are unemployed, while 41% are employed in some capacity, such as: employees of private companies, self-employed individuals, civil servants, or\u00a0individual microentrepreneurs.\u00a0<\/a>The retail sector is the largest employer (29%), followed by services (25%) and manufacturing (8%).<\/p>\n

Challenges and inclusion in the workplace<\/h2>\n

Still, the\u00a0Coexistir research\u00a0<\/strong>The study showed that professionals with disabilities face obstacles in the corporate environment: 64% have never been promoted, and 63% reported having experienced discrimination at work. Most of them hold operational or administrative positions, and 47% earn up to the minimum wage.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the survey highlights that, among those who are employed, 79% are aware of the\u00a0Quota Law for People with Disabilities<\/a>. In fact, the majority (58%) joined their current companies through this legislation. In addition, 65% rate their relationship with their immediate supervisors as good, and 66% consider their interactions with coworkers to be positive. Workplace accommodations to meet their needs were implemented in 58% of the cases, and 70% participate in professional development activities offered by their companies.<\/p>\n
