Electronic book readers, video magnifiers, talking watches, and adapted games produced by the institution can be purchased at the fair
A Laramara (Brazilian Association for Assistance to the Visually Impaired) is one of the exhibitors at the 17th Reatech (International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility), which will take place from September 1st to 4th at the São Paulo Expo Imigrantes, in the capital of São Paulo.
At its booth, the institution will showcase some assistive technology products sold by Laratec (Assistive Technology Center for People with Visual Impairments). Among the products will be the EVO E10 e-book reader, touted as the most modern and practical on the market. Featuring voice-guided navigation across all system operation menus, the reader's buttons feature raised tactile markings, different shapes, and different colors.
Enlarged keyboards, video magnifiers (in mouse or pocket formats), signature guides, sorobans, talking watches, folding canes, arm blood pressure monitors, body thermometers, and adapted games, among other items, will also be exhibited.
The visitor will also be able to explore pedagogical products developed by the Bricanto Resource Center that assist in children's learning, such as Alphaimã (which recognizes different types of shapes, sizes, weight, and material), Brailito (which encourages the recognition of shape, size, weight, consistency, and material), and Frutíferas (which, by promoting the handling of tree figures, helps differentiate the size of trees and fruits).
Anyone who wants to delve deeper into the topics can purchase the publications Brincar Para Todos, Caminhando Juntos, Deficiência Visual Refletindo sobre a Prática Pedagógica, and many other editions released by Laramara.
This is Laratec's 15th participation in Reatech. “Our mission is to identify the newest and most accessible assistive technologies that help children, youth, and adults with visual impairments and other associated disabilities achieve independence and autonomy in all areas of life and feel fully included in society,” says Robert Mortimer, coordinator of Laratec. “Reatech is an excellent showcase to promote these products,” he adds.
