Institute conducts the first national survey on dwarfism in the country

Organization claims that there are more than 700 conditions that lead to short stature, but there is no solid data regarding this community, recognized as people with disabilities in 2004.

National Institute of Dwarfism (INN) is conducting the first national survey on people with this condition in the country. The organization states that there are more than 700 bone dysplasias identified by science that can lead to short stature, but there is no solid data regarding this community, which only officially became part of the disabled population in 2014.

“This data needs to be structured. Often, in advocacy actions, the first question asked is ‘how many people with dwarfism do we have in Brazil or in a given state?’ Without answers, actions are ineffective and the fight is weakened. These people become increasingly invisible within the public service structure, says Juliana Yamin, president of INN.

The first step is to fill out a simple questionnaire at the link http://app.associatec.com.br/AreaAssociados/INN to identify people with dwarfism or caregivers.

Reatech – The National Institute of Dwarfism is a partner of the International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility (Reatech). There will be an INN booth at the event to welcome and support people interested in registering.

Reatech takes place from October 4 to 7 at São Paulo Expo, located at Rodovia dos Imigrantes, km 1.5, Vila Água Funda, São Paulo/SP.
