Paralympic athlete Ariosvaldo Fernandes da Silva, better known as Parré, is showcasing to the public at Reatech, which opened this Thursday (Sept. 1) at Expo Center Norte, the first high-performance sports wheelchair developed domestically for track and field athletics.
In partnership with Alphamix, a supplier of equipment for various parasports, the athlete developed a wheelchair that could meet the highest requirements of track and field. Made of aluminum and high-quality materials, the wheelchairs are custom-produced to ensure greater comfort, according to the user's needs.
One of the difficulties for people with disabilities to progress in the sport of athletics, and which becomes a major obstacle, is the cost of equipment, especially if the product is imported. “I've always raced in imported chairs and had a lot of difficulty finding a chair made of this high-performance material, because it's a very expensive product. With the support of Alphamix, we were able to develop something at a more affordable price,” states Parré.
The athlete also makes an appearance at the track and field arena of ADD (Sports Association for the Disabled), set up at Reatech, which features a multifunctional court where many activities are being held for the public, including tournaments, friendly games, and demonstrations of various sports during the four days of the event.
