Ford is present at Reatech Brazil 2023 – International Fair for Inclusion, Accessibility, and Rehabilitation, showcasing an adapted E-Transit, an electric van with access for two wheelchair users designed to comply with ABNT standards – watch the video. The vehicle can be seen at the booth of transportation company Azul Mob, at the fair running until October 7 at São Paulo Expo.

Electric version of the world's best-selling van, the E-Transit stands out for its technology and innovation, incorporating factory connectivity, standard equipment, and semi-autonomous driving systems to deliver greater safety to passengers, minimize the risks of unexpected downtime, and maximize the productivity of the commercial customer.

It is equipped with a 68 kWh battery, which allows for a range of 317 km (measured by the WLTP method). Currently, the vehicle in the van version is already being tested in the fleets of large companies in Brazil and South America.

“In addition to contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions, the E-Transit offers a more advantageous operating cost for the customer. It delivers lower energy consumption and has fewer wear-and-tear components, which allows for a lower frequency of service and maintenance,” says Matias Guimil, Commercial Vehicle Strategy and Product Manager at Ford.

Versatility of applications

The E-Transit has a floor-mounted battery that does not interfere with cargo space. And, just like the combustion-engine versions, it is easily adapted to suit various types of applications. The model on display at Reatech is a long-wheelbase, high-roof van (L3H3), implemented by the company Alpha6, from São Paulo, with support from the engineering team of Ford Pro, the brand's commercial vehicle division.

The van's modification included the installation of windows, rear air conditioning, ABS interior paneling, marine plywood flooring and runner, retractors for securing wheelchairs, and a side lift for wheelchair access, with a capacity of up to 300 kg. It was also equipped with two double seats and one single seat in the rear and can transport a total of nine ambulatory passengers, plus the driver.

“We estimate that in the coming years, the adoption of electric vehicles intended for municipal public service and the private school, cargo, and passenger transport sectors will grow rapidly. The E-Transit shows that a ready-made solution already exists to meet this need. It is a vehicle that does not pollute, has a lower maintenance cost, and also offers an unmatched standard of silence and comfort for users,” says Leandro Zillig, partner at Alpha6 and Azul Mob.
