In its centenary year, Fundação Dorina will participate in the main side events of Reatech 2019

Foundation employees will participate in the Reackathon, Reamed and the Pet Course

São Paulo, June 2019– Join forces to promote a quality event. A 16th Reatech – International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility, which starts this Thursday (13) and runs until Sunday (16), has prepared a series of side activities, involving subjects such as technology, rehabilitation, and accessibility. The Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind, a benchmark in social inclusion projects for people with visual impairments, will be involved in some of these activities, reinforcing the team of excellence that will be at the fair.

This year marks the centenary of the institution's founder, who for over 70 years has been dedicated to the social inclusion of people with visual impairments. “Our founder, Dorina Nowill, dedicated her life to the cause of people with visual impairments. For all of us, keeping her legacy alive means contributing to the inclusion of everyone in society,” explains Alexandre Munk, superintendent of the Dorina Foundation.

Professor and Master Eliana Cunha will participate in the second day of Reamed, Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Active in the field of visual impairment for 30 years, today she coordinates the Inclusive Education area at the Dorina Foundation. The professor will address the Visual Rehabilitation in Low Vision, highlighting concepts, optical and non-optical resources, and assistive technologies.

Another collaboration will be in Pet Course, Animal-Assisted Therapy workshop, on June 16. The course, which will discuss the interaction between man and animal in a formal therapeutic process, will feature Marcelo Panico, attorney for the Dorina Nowill Foundation for the Blind, to discuss the importance of interaction with guide dogs in the lecture “There is much to be done even without seeing!.

Also of note is the Reackathon, an unprecedented competition in this edition of Reatech, which aims to stimulate innovative autonomy initiatives with smart projects for quality of life and social inclusion. With the theme “Assistive Technology for People with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility,” Dorina Foundation volunteer Adenilson Lourenço will be one of the judges choosing the best solutions to improve public policies for the well-being of society.

“Participating in Reatech through lectures and activities becomes even more special in this centenary year. Our expectation is for a great gathering for the exchange of experiences and opportunities so that society may be more inclusive, concludes Munk.
