Leading trade show in the sector in Latin America is in its 16th edition and expects to welcome 52,000 visitors over four days of the event at São Paulo Expo
São Paulo, June 2019– A 16th Reatech – International Fair of Technologies for Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility, will present the latest news in the sector of orthoses, prostheses, and special materials (OPME). Thanks to technological evolution and the growing concern for social responsibility, the sector is growing, and the event will discuss the segment's advances and challenges between June 13 and 16, at the São Paulo Expo Exhibition & Convention Center, in the capital of São Paulo.
Organized by Cipa Fiera Milano, Reatech is the leading trade show in the sector in Latin America, and expects to welcome 52,000 visitors and bring together 300 exhibiting brands operating in various segments: employment agencies focused on people with disabilities and reduced mobility, financial institutions, wheelchair manufacturers, human resources departments, pharmaceutical industries, trained animal services, adapted vehicles for people with physical disabilities, hearing aid manufacturers, alternative therapies, tourism, and leisure.
The demand for medical devices, implants, and prostheses has led to increased competition in the sector. According to GTT Healthcare, a company specializing in auto-identification technologies for the healthcare sector, there are currently about 3,600 companies operating in Brazil as manufacturers, importers, and distributors. Reatech aims to further stimulate the market and contribute to the professionalization of the sector, given the importance of developing new technologies to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Hackathon
The big news of this edition is the Hackathon, a marathon focused on accessibility solutions. The intention is to seek proposals that can make a difference in the quality of life of thousands of people around the world. “It will be an innovation marathon, a hands-on learning experience to improve daily accessibility. An immersive innovation experience focused on real challenges. After all, the lack of access for a large part of the population, especially in public spaces, causes serious problems,‘ says Rimantas Sipas, Commercial Director of Cipa Fiera Milano, promoter and organizer of Reatech.
Concept House
During the four days of the event, visitors will be able to explore in detail a house adapted for people with reduced mobility. Designed by Direct Borrachas, the house will be at the company's booth and will offer guided tours every day. The idea is to “provoke” the participants, instigate the importance of accessibility in spaces, and show how indispensable certain equipment can be in changing people's lives.
The space, created by accessibility architect Gabriella Zubelli, consists of six environments and will showcase the potential barriers that people with reduced mobility encounter and their respective adaptations. The visitor will also have the opportunity to experience the spaces in an inclusive and sensorial way. Blindfolded or in a wheelchair, the person will be guided through the house, having the experience of feeling the difficulties encountered by those with some type of disability.
