São Paulo, August 2022 – The countdown has begun for the Reatech – International Fair of Technologies in Rehabilitation, Inclusion and Accessibility of 2022. In its 17th edition, the event will take place from September 1st to 4th at São Paulo Expo. The expectation is to bring together at least 300 exhibitors and welcome more than 52,000 visitors to present market innovations and promote the inclusion of people with disabilities.
The trade fair is the leading event in the sector in Latin America and hosts employment agencies specialized in people with disabilities and reduced mobility, as well as segments such as trained animals, adapted vehicles, hearing aid manufacturers, special equipment, hospital supplies, prostheses and orthoses, alternative therapies, tourism and leisure, the pharmaceutical industry, and wheelchair manufacturers, among others.
“The event plays a role in promoting inclusion and accessibility in all spheres of society. Reatech is a showcase for the development of this sector, which is marked by constant updating and innovation; in other words, it is a time to discover new products and trends aimed at people with disabilities and reduced mobility, says Maurício Macedo, CEO of Fiera Milano Brasil, organizer and promoter of Reatech 2022.
Worldwide, more than 1 billion people currently need assistive technology. To give an idea of the innovation capacity within this market, there are more than 130,000 patent applications related to conventional and emerging assistive technologies between 1998 and 2020, according to a report by the World Intellectual Property Organization of the UN (United Nations).
Visitors to the fair can also take advantage of the content that will be presented during the four days of the event. This year, the planned activities include Pet Course – Animal-Assisted Therapy, o Equine-Assisted Therapy Workshop, o Reamed (Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation), the TecFisio (Advanced Technologies in Physiotherapy Seminar) and the Reashow – Expositors Seminar.
Labor market
The inclusion of people with disabilities in the labor market is one of the main focuses of Reatech 2022. This is because, according to the latest census by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) from 2010, at least 45 million Brazilians have some type of difficulty seeing, hearing, or getting around, or have some type of mental disability. However, only 50% of the positions designated for these individuals are filled.
Keeping an eye on this scenario, one of the highlights of the fair is Reatech Congress on Inclusion and Accessibility in the Labor Market. The topic will be debated by recognized specialists in Brazil and abroad, such as the prosecutor and national coordinator for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities and the Elimination of Discrimination in the Workplace at the MPT (Ministry of Labor Prosecution Office), Adriana Reis de Araújo, and Larissa Lopes, global head of Diversity and Inclusion at the BRF group.
