The missions to promote accessibility in the workplace

The missions to promote accessibility in the workplace

The area of facilities organizations have the responsibility to work toward greater accessibility. At the Reatech Inclusion and Accessibility in the Labor Market Congress, held this Saturday (3) at the São Paulo Expo, two cases exemplify the relevance of this topic.

“Every design in the office is thought out in terms of mobility. The wider space between work bays, tactile flooring to identify fire extinguishers, red and yellow lines on glass doors, and audible and visual alarms are a few examples. We are always alongside companies and leaders who can evolve with us. There is a lot to be done, we need to evolve a lot in diversity and inclusion as a whole, said Ana Machado, global facility management at Shell.

The existence of accessible places does not harm anyone without special needs in any way and can even help those who temporarily need more care, such as people with newborns or recovering from an injury. Therefore, it is increasingly important for the industry to be evaluated by this factor. “We created an app, used worldwide, to evaluate the accessibility of different locations. This helps people plan their routes more safely and opens some people's minds to the importance of accessibility. We also follow up with companies so they adjust their infrastructure,” highlighted Bianca Mahfuz Gualdani, partner and director of Guiaderodas.
